Smash Tennis! We actually chose to do a sports game! And it actually turned out better than expected. Just to go ahead and get it out of the way, this is an episode that was recorded virtually by all parties. It could sound a little different but we didn’t want to leave anyone hanging. We talk about the loss of Norm MacDonald, some Animal Royale, Smash Tennis, our preferred French fry, and
Operation Logic Bomb! So that has to be some kind of puzzle game? No? An over the top shooter?! Well, okay. Tyler, Dave and Ian dive into this Nintendo Switch Online game that probably should have been called Geometry Contra. There may be quite a bit at the beginning about Lego video games, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, the Steve from Blue’s Clues video, several types of anime, and lots of Animal Royale. Come sit awhile and listen.
Tuff E Nuff! Or is it HEY PUNK! ARE YOU TUFF E NUFF? Revel in the 90s glory of this fighting game handed to us by the Mini Nintendo Switch Online Randomizer. We talk about games we are playing, games we are making sure we do not play, we figure out the electromagnetic conflux that is the Hollanddeck, and we talk about this title wreck of a game!
Kabluey / Bombuzal, whatever you want to call it. This game is a port of a PC game make in the late eighties, and wouldn’t you guess it – the SNES one is the worst of the lot! So we do talk about it but first we talk a lot of Avatar: The Last Airbender because we can. Ian talks some Commodore 64. We bring back “What have you been playing?” Because this game is so short and so lacking, this episode has a lot of conversation. If you like that sort of thing, we think this episode will absolutely be for you – if not, just download it and be back next week, please and thank you!
Jelly Boy. That’s right, not Jerry Boy. It’s not Smart Ball. Nor is it Jelly Boy 2 (which is a completely different game with a different developer and publisher. The original game finally brought over to our shores as the most recent batch of Nintendo Switch Online games. Well, it is certainly something with some things to talk about – so we have to talk about
Okay! Maybe you were expecting to hear an episode on Vegas Stakes for the Super Nintendo. That’s a legitimate expectation because on our last episode we stated that we would in-fact be covering Vegas Stakes. Welp. Due to some serious circumstances we were not able to make that happen, but we will get to it…eventually. In the meantime, please enjoy this Patreon bonus episode on Super Mario Odyssey that we released last year.
WARNING: This episode starts out with some siiiiick references to the following TV shows: Friends, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, and The Office. We also talk about Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch by request of Tyler (of TADPOG fame). We end up talking about Mario in a broader sense and talk generally about 3D platformers as a genre. We end by playing some listener voicemail. (Also, Tyler announces his new career as a Super Punch-Out!! speed runner.)
It’s a bug hunt. Jacob York (of wolf fighting fame), joins Dave on this episode to discuss Into the Breach, the turn-based strategy game by Subset Games. Outside of game discussion, there are many references to the Funky Kong religion which was founded on last week’s episode. We also talk about Toad’s anatomy a little bit, and of course we make plans to purchase GamePro.
Get your holes ready! One-half of TADPOG Sweethearts, Josh Nance, joins the podcast to talk about Donut County, the 2018 indie game by Ben Esposito. Tyler is out this week, so this is a JADPIG episode (Josh and Dave Play Indie Games, duh). While unsupervised, Dave and Josh found a Funky Kong religion and talk about cat murder on a local scale!
