Ep. 420 – Crypt of the NecroDancer

Crypt of the NecroDancer

REANIMATE! We’re taking a break from playing through the games on the NES Classic long enough to talk about Crypt of the NecroDancer with Rhythm Master Paul and Soul Sister Yarn Sorceress Chandra. NecroDancer is what it looks like when a rhythm game meets a roguelike dungeon crawler. Aside from game talk, we eat gross jellybeans; Chandra comes at us with some sweet sweet Garfield JOI; there are two (count ’em—two!) quizzes on this episode: a Wizard Quiz and a Necromancer Quiz; and there’s plenty of Dragon Ball talk (we legit discuss Piccolo’s wiener for like five minutes).  Continue reading

Ep. 419 – Castlevania

Grab your whip, your cross and your holy water. On this episode we’re talking about Castlevania, the third game on the NES Classic. We talk about the game plenty, but we also open packages from listeners Edgelord Kyle and Sandwich Pope Phil. Youngling Choco Chica joins us to try a bunch of chocolate…and there’s even a bubble quiz!  Continue reading

Why didn’t Alex “Chili Dog” Peterson just uppercut Cthulhu? Joining the discussion is the sweetest pair of sweethearts you’ve ever met: Josh and Nicole (aka investigators Brock and Donna). Tyler explains the motivations and inspirations behind this game and Josh clarifies what he meant by “that ending sucks”.  Continue reading
