Ep. 792 – J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, Vol. I

Greetings, travelers! This week on TADPOG, we’re journeying into Middle-earth with a pairing of Peter Jackson’s The Fellowship of the Ring movie and the SNES game J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, Vol. I. Yes, we watched the sweeping cinematic classic. Yes, we played a game where Hobbits die a lot—often hilariously. Sandwich Pope Phil joins our fellowship as a guest host to share his insights. Come listen to us explore the film, critique the game, and decide which version of Middle-earth we’d rather adventure in! J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings Vol. I finally hits our shores in both movie and game form. Also, someone pops in at the end of the episode.

Ep. 790 – Timecop

Timecop! That’s right, it’s all one word so say it quickly. Does this SNES game look like the 1994 Jean Claude Van Damme? No? Well, we assure you that is the movie that it’s based on. Although it turns out the game is actually a SEQUEL to Timecop. So you needed more of that movie? Here you go! Of course, we being on the internet’s foremost Van Dammologist – Sandwich Pope Phil Hawkins! We discuss some movies, some anime, a few other games, then roll right into the deep dive of Timecop the movie and the SNES game. So please, Damme it, sit awhile and listen!

Ep. 787 – Soldiers of Fortune

Soldiers of Fortune, aka THE CHAOS ENGINE, hits the shores of TADPOG. Hey, this is an important day! On this, the day of recording, it is our very own Dave’s birthday. So we have to celebrate in style with trying a soda, giving him a gift, talking about RPGs and some TV shows then doing a deep dive into this maybe hidden gem of a game that only Tyler had heard of in a magazine when he was kid. So come please, come sit awhile and listen to us break down this down along with a few anime. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAVE!

Ep. 784 – Snow White: Happily Ever After

Snow White: Happily Ever After – you ever heard of this? So the kings of cheap, quickly produced animation, Filmation, produced their own non-Disney sequel to Snow White where she and a squad of girls save the prince this time around. It’s a pretty wild movie. So wild we have to bring on TADPOG IT to parse though it. Jon Turley makes his grand return. So we talk about the movie, the insanity that is Filmation, this SNES game. Why they made an SNES game of this, we don’t quite understand. But hey, it was a fun discussion. So please, come sit awhile and listen to Snow White: Happily Ever After!

Ep. 783 – The Pagemaster

The Pagemaster swashbuckles, flies, and…limps its way to TADPOG shores. We’re all fans of Macaulay Culkin here but this movie slipped past both Tyler and Dave and the game eluded all 3 hosts. So it’s a deep dive into both the movie and the game yet again. Some powerful opinions all around. To describe the plot of the movie poorly – “A boy suffers a concussion and gain the courage to attempt dangerous bike stunts without a helmet.” So there is that, talk of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a blind draft of child actors, and more. So please, won’t you stay awhile and listen?

Ep. 782 – Pitfighter

Pitfighter

Pitfighter. That’s right. We are tackling the legendary SNES port of the arcade game Pitfighter. More famously known as Sh*tfighter. We can’t even pretend. We can go ahead and get right ahead of this one and say this game is truly the stuff of nightmares. But how bad is it really? We have a pretty granular conversation trying parse out just how bad this game is and where is falls in the over SNES ranking. Does Street Hockey 95 retain its crown as the worst SNES game we have ever played? To find out, just sit awhile and listen!

Ep. 781 – “Outlander” for the SNES or “Mad Max 2: Legally Distinct Edition”

Outlander. So here is the thing, this is the Mad Max 2 game for SNES. Why isn’t it called Mad Max? Reasons. Outlander. Licensing. All that jazz. The important part is that there was a Max Max 2: The Road Warrior for SNES but it ended up being called Outlander. Of course there are tons of other things called Outlander. So many other things I would have rather this game been called Crazy Carl or Nutty Nathaniel. ANYWAY. We get to talk about Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior! And also the stuff about this game. So please, sit awhile and listen us review and an amazing movie and a game that falls all over the spectrum for us! Outlander. There is also a draft. You like drafts, right? We do. We hope you do too.

Ep. 780 – The Rocketeer

The Rocketeer figuratively rockets onto TADPOG shores (and directly into into a garbage can that we keep there). We continue our long running series yet again where we watch the movie and play the game. We take a deep dive into this movie for a nice little review and then hop skip and jump onto the straight up dumpster fire that is the game. Really, we don’t even want to be coy with this like maybe we liked or maybe we didn’t and you’ll have to tune in and see. This game blows goats. It’s truly terrible. But come sit and while and let us tell you why! The Rocketeer!
