Ep. 684 – Kirby’s Avalanche

Kirby's Avalanche

Kirby’s Avalanche? Yes, Kirby’s Avalanche. Didn’t we do this one? Yes, almost 10 years ago. But it was subject to a greater dispel spell and is no longer available, but anything lost from IGN’s Top 100 SNES games list, we will always re-record. It just happened to drop on the Switch SNES Online service so it was a pretty opportune time to do it again. Just for the occasion, we reunite TADPOG IT with a rare appearance by Captain Gun Nerd Jon Turley. We bring it hard with a chip draft, some drink talk, some Star Wars talk, and a deep dive into the re-skin of Puyo Puyo that Kirby’s Avalanche really is – so come sit awhile and listen!

Ep. 683 – Fighter’s History

Fighter’s History, fresh today, courtesy Nintendo Switch Online’s Super Nintendo platform. What do you think when you see the box art? A little creeped out? Wondering if these are Street Fighter knockoffs so blatant they must be illegal? WRONG! They are very legal very blatant Street Fight knockoffs according to a court of law and we certainly get into it. We talk Funko pops, horror movies, Multiversus, and Pokemon Go. So come sit awhile and listen to a review and history lesson over Fighter’s History!

Ep. 682 – Incredible Crash Dummies

Incredible Crash Dummies. You read that correctly, not the Incredible Crash TEST Dummies (don’t worry, we explain why you may remember that extra word there). Join us as we journey down the road from PSA, to cartoon, to toys, and finally to video games for the Incredible Crash Dummies. We stop off in order to do an NBA style draft of chocolate based candies. Corey Feldman is discussed at length – some movies, his voice acting, more about Ian’s curiosity if Corey Feldman could have pulled off Indiana Jones, and his wide catalog of music. We swoon over The Kids in the Hall, discuss the estate of Casey Kasem and finally summon the Randomizer for what game we will play next. Come sit awhile and listen!

Ep. 681 – Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures

The time has come, after all that edge talk we have arrived at Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures. This SNES game covered all three movies of the original trilogy, so to fully understand everything that goes into this game – we had to watch all the movies and talk about them at length THEN roll into deep game talk over all the levels for three movies. There is plenty of movie talk and plenty of game talk on this one. So much so that we don’t get to all our normal segments. So if you like Indiana Jones then this is absolutely the episode for you. Sit awhile and listen! Indiana Jones; Greatest Adventures!

Ep. 680 – Indiana Jones Edgefest

Indiana Jones Edgefest was really the best title for this episode. Tyler had some schedule conflicts and caused the show to need to be shuffled around, which messed with planning the Scott Pilgrim game, which messed with what we were doing for the week, which messed with planning out play time – so this is one of those good old therapy episodes where we chat (this time we chat a lot about Indiana Jones since we will be headed into a big Indiana Jones SNES/Movie episode next week), we take some calls and have a “relaxed fit” time. So we hope you enjoy just time chatting around time so we can get our ducks in a row next week!

Ep. 679 – Waterworld (SNES)

Waterworld SNES style! Did you love the 1994 Kevin Cosner movie about a world covered in water? YOU DID? Oh, you didn’t? Sorry, my ears are water logged. In a rare return to a game episode, Half of TADPOG Sweethearts, Nicole joins us to speak quite a bit about the movie Waterworld (you can’t talk about this game without understanding what in the world they are trying to replicate) and then the boys do a deep dive into this game. We talk special corduroy hates, games we have spent the most time on, Ian’s favorite brand of reusable water bottles, and we take a few special calls. Come sit awhile and listen! Waterworld SNES!

Ep. 678 – The Meat in a Marion Sandwich vs. The World – Session Fourteen (A D&D Actual Play)

The Meat in a Marion Sandwich vs. The World! After a few weeks off, our Scott Pilgrim inspired 5e D&D tabletop returns in form! The band gets gathers their wits after almost losing their lives to a giant feral cat straight out of the 1970’s Bob Noble Park. The try to figure out what this “blight” stuff might be. Lem makes sure to grab a box of memory VHS tapes to watch. Kenny finds a special Pee Wee’s playhouse way to talk to his spectral mom. Spekkio answers some questions that turn right around and beg more questions. Aurora has some theories. And we close out on a pretty pretty pretty good story where Dave meets IRL Game Kevin Link. So please come check out The Meat in a Marion Sandwich vs. The World!

Ep. 677 – Final Fantasy VI (World of Ruin)

Final Fantasy VI (World of Ruin) has finally come to pass. Does this episode sound a little different? Well, that may be because we are all wearing masks just to be safe from Ian’s brush with COVID but we still recorded an episode! Courtesy of the Randomizer, we decided to re-record out early episodes where we covered this game for IGN’s Top 100 SNES game. We discussed it over two episodes so we changed it up with our new formula into two again – this time with the World of Balance and the World of Ruin (essentially the front and back halves of the game). So now we get to break down the VERY different half of the game, but just as beloved as the World of Balance. Tyler and Dave break down the game while Ian acts more as an audience surrogate asking some important questions. We have our hearts in this one, so we hope you enjoy.
