The Randomizer is back, baby! (And it brought veteran guest host Miller with him #MoreMiller). What SNES game did The Randomizer bestow upon us today, you ask? Why, none other than Super Strike Eagle, the 1993 combat flight simulator for the SNES. If discussion about lackluster video game visuals and kludgy controls aren’t enough: we also talk about Tyler’s recent vasectomy! <insert reggaeton horn sfx>. And Miller tells us how to wreck a vintage golf cart. This episode brought to you by Norco.
You know we had to do an Electric Boogaloo for FFXI! So Miller is back with for more Final Fantasy XI talk. Dave’s Old Wendy’s Nemesis rears his head once again. Tyler returns from Disney World having learned more of life’s lessons. Drew from For the Love of Indie gives us a very nice package. Incredibly Tough Trousers Monster (It’ll make sense after you listen). If you liked the break down from last episode of FFXI, then you’ll definitely enjoy us finishing up this two part episode. Put your party flag up because this week we are talking about Final Fantasy XI, the 2002 MMORPG by Square. We have wanted to do an episode on this game for a long time and we are joined by our resident MMOlogist, Shawn Miller of #MoreMiller fame. All three of us played Final Fantasy XI at its height and in this episode we barely scratch the surface of this immense game, but we do have a lot of fun reminiscing about our time spent in Vana’diel. We open a new package full of treats from listeners Bunny and Kira. We tell stories about our gross early apartments. Dave contributes to the stray cat population epidemic. And perhaps most notable for TADPOG Lore Masters, He Who Shall Not Be Named…is named. We had so much fun recording this one that we would like to continue it some day; we hope you enjoy. We set our chronometers to Oct. 21, 2015 and talk about Back to the Future for the NES with Miller (of #moremiller fame). We also leisurely sip on weird sodas from a weird store in Western Kentucky, corrupt our virtue and innocence with the Balls of Dorian Gray and answer a very special Would You Rather from Exalted Lord Mike of Perdue.
Advergames. Everyone loves them, TADPOG Nation. We even had a special request by Shawn Miller to do Cool Spot so he could guest host. What Miller wants, Miller gets so this week we have brought you that 7-Up classic. We also start out talking about dogs then our exception prowess with the opposite sex. Then we glow about Cool Spot and take a few calls. If you like sad stories about animals and goofs about soda then this just might be your perfect episode.
The conclusion of our Ready Player One Series finally ends today when we discuss the actual book, Ready Player One. We knew two other people that also read (or rather listened) to the book, Shawn Miller of #moremiller fame and Nikki Moore of Wil Wheaton adoration fame enter the fray. We talk a lot of the consequences of alcohol consumption as well as the pop culture fest that is this book. Let us know if you like us doing this kind of thing.
It has been a long time coming, TADPOG Nation, but now we finally begin to draw our Ready Player One series to a close by actually getting a group of four (Dave of TADPOG fame, Miller of #moremiller fame, Ramon of Shovel Knight Fame and Saint Zach of Star Fox fame) to play the classic module – Tomb of Horrors (redone for 5th Edition D&D). Tyler is the Dungeon Master as we TRY to entertain you with how difficult this module truly is. Let us know what you thought about this one. We know its very long but it had to be. If you want more of what we recorded after Tropical Capricorn, just ask.
We’ve reached IGN’s 4th ranked Super Nintendo game, Final Fantasy III, the RPG classic by Square. It’s a JRPG so that means we’re in for another multi-part episode. For Part 1 we’ve brought back Miller (of #moremiller fame) and MANANPOG’s very own Meg Holland. We talk about our favorite characters, favorite final parties, favorite weapons, and most importantly: debate which of Meg’s nieces played Final Fantasy 3?
